<p>ALLERGY</p>
<p>Do not take CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET if you are allergic to verapamil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.</p>

<p>HEART DISEASE</p>
<p>CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have heart failure or severe problems with the heart rhythms (second- or third-degree atrioventricular block or sick sinus syndrome) unless you have a pacemaker, recent history of heart attack, slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure.<strong> </strong>Consult your doctor before taking it.</p>
<p>CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who had a heart attack or have problems with the impulses of the heart (first-degree atrioventricular block), and cardiomyopathy (a disease of the heart muscle). Consult your doctor before taking it.</p>
<h2>OTHERS</h2>
<p>CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET is not recommended for you, if you:</p>
<ul>
<li>Have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (rapid heart rate associated with dizziness or faintness)</li>
</ul>
<p>Before taking CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:</p>
<ul>
<li>Are having an operation</li>
<li>Have neuromuscular diseases or conditions which cause muscle weakness such as myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome or advanced Duchenne muscular dystrophy</li>
<li>Have an intolerance to lactose or sucrose</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Use in paediatrics:</strong></p>
<p>CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in children. Consult your doctor before taking it.</p>
<p><strong>Use in geriatrics:</strong></p>
<p>CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients with heart or liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.</p>
<h2>INTERACTIONS</h2>
<p><strong>A. Drug-Drug interactions:</strong></p>
<p>Before taking CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:</p>
<ul>
<li>Alpha or beta-blockers (medicines used to treat high blood pressure and heart diseases) Ex. prazosin, doxazosin, metoprolol and propranolol</li>
<li>Aspirin (used for pain fever or to prevent blood clots)</li>
<li>Quinidine, flecainide (used to treat irregular heartbeat)</li>
<li>Imipramine, buspirone (used to treat depression, anxiety and panic disorder)</li>
<li>Rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)</li>
<li>Erythromycin, clarithromycin and telithromycin (used to treat bacterial infections)</li>
<li>Ritonavir, nelfinavir (medicines used to treat HIV)</li>
<li>Doxorubicin (used in the treatment of cancer)</li>
<li>Phenobarbital, carbamazepine and phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)</li>
<li>Digitoxin and digoxin, ivabradine (medicines used in the treatment of heart failure)</li>
<li>Colchicine, sulfinpyrazone (used to treat gout)</li>
<li>Cimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcers)</li>
<li>Immunosuppressants Ex. ciclosporin, everolimus, sirolimus and tacrolimus (medicines used to prevent organ transplant rejection)</li>
<li>Statins (used to treat high levels of cholesterol) Ex. atorvastatin, lovastatin and simvastatin</li>
<li>Lithium (used to treat mania)</li>
<li>Midazolam (used as a sedative or anaesthetic)</li>
<li>Glibenclamide, glyburide, metformin (used to treat diabetes)</li>
<li>Neuromuscular blocking agents Ex. vecuronium (used in anaesthesia)</li>
<li>Almotriptan (used to treat migraine)</li>
<li>Dabigatran (used to prevent blood clot)</li>
<li>St. John’s Wort (used for mild anxiety)</li>
<li>Antihypertensives (medicines used to treat high blood pressure) Ex. chlorothiazide, ramipril</li>
<li>Theophylline (used to treat asthma)</li>
<li>Medicines to treat fungal infections, such as fluconazole or itraconazole</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>B. Drug - Food interaction:</strong></p>
<p>Do not eat or drink products containing grapefruit juice while taking CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET, as grapefruit juice increases the effects of this medicine.</p>
<p><strong>Overdosage:</strong></p>
<p>If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose of CALAPTIN 40MG TABLET are low blood pressure and in rare cases heart failure.</p>
