DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

FORTUM 250MG INJECTION may cause dizziness which can affect your ability to drive and operate machines. Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy after receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION.

KIDNEY

FORTUM 250MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION.

LIVER

FORTUM 250MG INJECTION should be used with caution hence safety and efficacy is not established in patients with severe liver disease. Contact your doctor before receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION.

ALLERGY

Do not receive FORTUM 250MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Ceftazidime or other antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporin’s, monobactams & carbapenems, or to lignocaine, or to ingredients of the medicine.

OTHERS

Before receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

  • Have to take blood test (coomb’s test)
  • Have poor nutritional status
  • Have a history of gastrointestinal disease, such as colitis
  • Have severe allergic reactions

Use in pediatrics:

The safety and efficacy of FORTUM 250MG INJECTION has not been established for neonates and infants less than 2 years of age. Your doctor will administer the right dose depends on the child’s age, body weight and severity of the infection.

Use in geriatrics:

FORTUM 250MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (especially aged above 80 years of age). Consult your doctor before receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before receiving FORTUM 250MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • Chloramphenicol, gentamycin, neomycin, tobramycin, streptomycin (medicines used for treatment of bacterial infections)
  • Furosemide (medicine used for treatment of kidney disorders)
  • Combined oral oestrogen/progesterone contraceptives (medicines used to prevent pregnancy)
  • Hydromorphone (medicine used for severe pain)
  • Diphenoxylate (medicine used for diarrhoea)
  • Atropine (medicine used to treat low heart rate)

Overdosage:

FORTUM 250MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms. Excessive dose of FORTUM 250MG INJECTION in patients suffering from kidney disease may lead to fits, encephalopathy (brain disorder that alters brain functions), asterixis (involuntary movements), neuromuscular excitability, and myoclonia (muscle jerks).

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Keep your weight under control with BMI (Body Mass Index) 19.5-24.9.
  • Do regular physical activity or exercise for at least 150 minutes per week, or about 30 minutes most days of the week. Doing this can help you to lower your raised blood pressure by about 5 mm of Hg.
  • Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, veggies, and low-fat dairy products.
  • Limiting sodium chloride (table salt) in your daily diet to 2300 mg per day or less than 1500 mg is ideal for most adults.
  • Quitting smoking is the best strategy to lower the risk of heart disease.
  • Avoid chronic stress as it can raise your blood pressure. Try to enjoy and spend time with your loved ones to cope with stress and practice mindfulness techniques.
  • Monitor your blood pressure daily and if there is too much fluctuation, then immediately contact your doctor.
  • Include heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids containing food and drinks in your daily diet. You can also use low-fat cooking oil like olive oil, soybean oil, canola oil, and coconut oil to help lower your elevated blood pressure.

  • Patients with hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), lung disease (asthma) and diabetes should inform a doctor before taking Tenormin 100 Tablet 14's. The doctor may suggest an appropriate diagnostic test before prescribing Tenormin 100 Tablet 14's to you.
